Our classroom rules are BE SAFE, BE RESPONSIBLE, BE RESPECTFUL. To encourage proper classroom behavior, there are rewards for good behavior and consequences for repeated disruptive behavior. We use "stoplight colors" to record behavior--green=great day, yellow=despite several warnings, classroom rules were broken, red=classroom rules were broken several times throughout the day. Behavior from the week before is recorded on the "HOMEWORK HELPER" sheet. Red color will be accompanied by a note (that explains why they got on red) and stapled to the "HOMEWORK HELPER" sheet. Students get $1 in play money for each day they are on green. Every three weeks students have the opportunity to spend their hard-earned cash on a variety of prizes at different price points. Students have the option to continuing saving their money for a higher price prize at the next buying opportunity.
