Homework for the entire week is assigned on Monday and put in the zipper pouch. One page of math, and one page of language arts is to be completed each day in the order they are stapled. Your child will have about 15-20 minutes of homework Monday through Friday.
To help foster a love of reading, parents are encouraged to read to their child each evening. Reading to your child each evening is part of the nightly homework. Students choose a book on Monday and it is to be returned the following Monday (or the first day of the week) with the completed homework in the zipper pouch. If a book is lost or damaged, you will be asked to pay $5 to replace it before another book will be issued.
Help you child develop good study habits by providing them a quiet time and place to study and read. Since your child does not read, you need to explain the directions to them. Students also need a pencil, crayons, scissors, and a glue stick to complete homework assignments.

Check your child's backpack each evening, as they take home the math work sheet that we did in class each day. That way they can use the math classwork to help with their homework. These sheets can be kept at home or returned with the packet on Monday.
On Wednesday, the SCHOOL COMMUNICATOR folder is sent home with important papers concerning the school, parents, and your child. I also return classwork and homework that has been recorded in my grade book and can be kept at home. The SCHOOL COMMUNICATOR folder must be reviewed Wednesday night by parents. Flyers or papers that need to be signed returned should be completed Wednesday evening, as the folder needs to be returned the next day on Thursday. Please look for this folder in your child's backpack on WEDNESDAY.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Our school only provides 2 copies per day per student. The homework often uses up the two copies per day which leaves no other copies for classroom use. I can no longer pay 10 cents or more per copy out of my own pocket. I have been spending an average of $150 dollars PER MONTH of my own money on copies alone!!! If I run out of school copies, I will send suggested homework activities on the HOMEWORK HELPER and blank paper to complete the activities.
